Professional Practice
The Section for the Professional Practice of Counseling Psychology within the APA Society for Counseling Psychology (Division 17) aims to promote the professional practice of Counseling Psychology by:
- Enhancing the professional practice of Counseling Psychology as the science and profession of psychology evolve and as our social and global contexts change;
- Demonstrating a commitment to professional practice that is strength-based, culturally responsive and socially just;
- Bringing together counseling psychologists and other affiliates who specialize and/or have an interest in a broad range of professional practice issues in Counseling Psychology;
- Maintaining a support network and a forum for sharing ideas and common experiences among counseling psychologists and other affiliates who have an interest in a broad range of professional practice issues in Counseling Psychology;
- Advancing the professional practice of Counseling Psychology through mentorship, education, training, and advocacy; and
- Increasing the presence of professionals and students in practice-oriented careers and training in leadership and governance within SCP, APA, and in their local communities.
