ECP Awards and GrantsECP Committee AwardsClick HERE to see the ECPC 2023 Awardees! 2023: Dr. Shavonne Moore-Lobban (SCP President), Dr. David Rivera (Teaching Award), Dr. Sebastian Barr (Clinical Practice Award), Dr. Jacks Cheng, (SCP ECP Chair) Inaugurated in 2023, these four awards in clinical practice, mentorship, teaching, and advocacy, are annual awards with the main purpose to celebrate everyday ECP excellence and make national recognition accessible in these respective areas. The recipient of each award will receive an honorarium and a celebratory plaque, and will be celebrated at the SCP Awards Ceremony at the APA Convention during the year of award. Convention attendance is not required to receive these awards. ECPs whose doctoral degree is conferred within the last 10 calendar years from a counseling psychology program or a combined program in which counseling psychology is a component are eligible. Nominations by self and by others are welcome. ECPs who have received their doctoral degree less than 5 years ago, and those who have not been previously honored by SCP or ECP committee, are particularly encouraged to consider nominating themselves or allowing colleagues to nominate them. ECP Clinical Practice Award This award intends to acknowledge outstanding direct service provided by an ECP in any clinical setting (e.g., counseling center, medical center, community health center, private practice), with special encourage for those whose clinical work exemplifies the values of counseling psychology. The nominee’s statement should address how the nominee has made an impact in their clinical practice, and can include any of the following: (a) a summary of their current clinical activities, (b) a description of their theoretical orientation and approach, (c) an explanation of how their clinical work exemplifies the values of counseling psychology, and/or (d) a de-identified description of a particularly successful case. ECP Mentorship Award This award intends to acknowledge the contributions of an ECP in their role as a mentor, whether through school (e.g., program advisor), in a formal program (e.g., Big Brother, Big Sister), or informal mentorship (e.g., advanced students within program, colleague from a conference). The nominee’s statement should address how the nominee has made an impact as a mentor, and can focus on any of the following: (a) what makes their mentorship unique, (b) accomplishments associated with their mentorship, and/or (c) a description of their ultimate aim in mentorship. Recipients
ECP Teaching Award This award intends to acknowledge the contributions of an ECP in their role as a teacher in an undergraduate or graduate setting. The nominee’s statement should address how the nominee has made an impact as a teacher, and can focus on any of the following: (a) a description of a class that captures the nominee’s teaching style, (b) a brief description of their pedagogy and how that is exhibited in their teaching, and/or (c) a description of their goals they have in their role as a teacher. ECP Advocacy Award This award intends to acknowledge the contributions of an ECP that have resulted in a more just world, whether within or outside the world of psychology. The nominee’s statement should address how the nominee has made contributions to social justice advocacy. Recipients
