Rosie Phillips Bingham, former President of Division 17 and currently the VP of Student Affairs at University of Memphis, has earned one of the most illustrious awards from APA. Given by the Board of Professional Affairs, this award honors outstanding contributions to professional practice in institutions. Dr. Phillips Bingham’s work in Memphis includes enhanced outreach programs to students of color, founding the Women’s Foundation for Greater Memphis, and excellent leadership and service to the University and local community.
As President of Division 17, she spoke strongly of the need to “draw the circle bigger” and include diverse members in leadership and engagement in Counseling Psychology. More recently, she served as co-chair for the inaugural SCP Leadership Academy, becoming a mentor for future SCP leaders. She is one of the founders of the National Multicultural Conference and Summit and has served on APA’s Ethics Committee, Board of Professional Affairs, Good Governance Project, and the Board of Directors. Dr. Phillips Bingham has been a friend and mentor to many Counseling Psychologists, and we are proud to see her contributions honored by APA.
