Creating Leaders & Connecting Mentors: Leadership Academy InitiativeWe are pleased to invite you to become a mentor for the APA Division 17 “Creating Leaders & Connecting Mentors” event at the 2018 APA Convention. The event will take place Friday, August 10 at 8:30-10:30 am in the SCP Hospitality Suite at Hotel Nikko. This event, sponsored by the Society of Counseling Psychology, is a Leadership Academy initiative aimed at providing an opportunity for graduate students and early career counseling psychologists to connect with mentors and leaders in the field in an accessible and informal setting. As a mentor, you will be able to speak to and share your experiences and knowledge with graduate students and early career psychologists. The level of commitment after the APA convention is up to your discretion. We just ask that you be available to speak with mentees for the two hour time period at APA, and potentially connect with mentees after the convention. After a complimentary continental breakfast, mentors will be able to speak with and connect with ECPs and Graduate Students in semi-structured 15-minute rounds. The event will culminate in a less structured time to socialize.
